Jason Rizo B.Sc.

Zamorano Class 2015. Jason is a master’s student working with Dr. John Bromfield lab in the Animal Sciences Department. His research interest is to understand how semen modulates the cellular and molecular environment of the bovine female reproductive tract, in to order to optimize the pregnancy success. Long-term goal is to identify bioactive molecules contained in the bovine seminal plasma with potential to be used by the Artificial Insemination industry to increase conception rate.

Erik Roldan B.Sc.

Zamorano Class 2016. Erik is a master's student working with Dr. Julien Beuzelin in the Entomology Department. He is working on determining population levels of the sugarcane borer and its biological control agents under current sugarcane production practice in Florida. In addition, the project will determine the impact of commercial sugarcane varieties on sugarcane borer oviposition preference and larval performance to determine the susceptibility levels of the varieties to borers.

Marco Goyzueta Altamirano M.Sc.

​Zamorano Class 2014. Marco is a Ph.D. student working with Dr. Barry Tillman and Dr. Diane Rowland in the Agronomy Department at UF. His work is based on genetic improvement of peanut. Previously Marco worked assessing several root traits in peanuts as well as seed maturity. Currently he is more focused on the assessment of experimental lines for tolerance/resistance to Aspergillus infection and aflatoxin contamination in greenhouse and In vitro settings.

Luis Jonathan Clavijo B.Sc.

Zamorano Class 2015. Jonathan is currently pursuing his master’s degree in the Environmental Horticulture Department at UF. His research is focused in the establishment and nutritional management of olive orchards in Florida. His work is based at the research stations in Citra, close to Gainesville, and Jay, in West Florida. Besides studying the phenology of the olive, an important component of his program is the extension experience. He conducts regular visits to some olive farms around the state to assess the nutritional status of trees of different cultivars.
